THE PROBLEM

Writers & individuals struggle to address the mental, physical, and financial aspects of self-betterment

In today's fast-paced world, many aspiring writers and individuals seeking personal growth struggle to find a supportive and resource-rich environment to pursue their writing goals and improve their overall wellbeing.

Lack of guidance & structure

Isolation and Lack of Community

Holistic Wellbeing

Limited access to resources

THE SOLUTION

We introduced an integrated system of writing and self-improvement tools within the Opyrus platform, designed to enhance the mental, physical, and financial wellbeing of users through writing.

In collaboration with my team, I conducted comprehensive research and market analysis, engaged in endless brainstorming sessions, and developed a cohesive design system with interactive prototypes. Through numerous iterations and client presentations, we crafted an experience tailored to meet the needs of aspiring writers and personal growth enthusiasts from scratch.

THE PROCESS

By asking questions and discovering their answers is how we got to the final product.

RESEARCH STUDY

I started with understanding the user requirements

Co-founders at Opyrus had conducted prior research with individuals to understand their writing practices and their needs for personal growth.

To validate the writing and self-improvement concepts, we conducted interviews with 5 aspiring writers and 2 co-founders.

Co-founders say

We have observed that most individuals seeking self-betterment through writing look for a platform that combines comprehensive resources and community support.

Aspiring individuals say

We want a platform that offers structured writing exercises and courses, and also provides a supportive community to share feedback and motivation.

Some key observations from the flow

Community

Writers value the ability to connect with peers and mentors for feedback and encouragement.

Motivation

Individuals often struggle to maintain motivation and seek regular prompts and exercises to stay engaged.

Resources

There is a high demand for diverse content including writing exercises, podcasts, and expert insights.

MARKET STUDY

Is the current market satisfying our user needs?

But the individuals felt that there was something missing

Lack of Motivation Tools

Users find it hard to stay motivated without regular prompts and progress tracking.

Insufficient Content Diversity

Existing platforms do not offer a wide range of writing exercises, courses, and multimedia resources.

Weak Community Features

Users feel isolated due to a lack of strong community engagement and peer interaction features.

And we saw it as our business opportunities...

1.

How might we create features to enhance and sustain user motivation?

2.

How might we provide a diverse and comprehensive range of writing resources?

3.

How might we design robust community engagement tools?

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

With opportunities in hand - there were a few considerations as I started designing the screens:

WIM score display to motivate users through gamification.

📱 Iphone X.png

Easily accessible scratchpad for jotting down quick ideas and notes.

📱 Iphone X.png

Voice input feature for hands-free note-taking and accessibility.
